Anti-Bullying Week 2020
The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2020 is: ‘United Against Bullying’
Every child should feel safe when they go to madrasah or school and know what to do if they are being bullied by anyone. Similarly, those that are bullying must also be given appropriate support and guidance to ensure that bullying is tackled at every level.
Anti-Bullying Week is an initiative organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, it’s focus is on making children understand what bullying is, the hurt it causes and how to report it. The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is ‘United Against Bullying’.
As Islamic institutions it is our duty to ensure the children in our care know and understand the harms of bullying through an Islamic perspective, What the Qur’ān and Ahādith have to say about bullying and those being bullied.
Teachers can use this week to highlight the Ayāt and Ahādith which relate to bullying and oppression and also conduct lessons and assemblies to raise awareness about the importance in Islam about making a change starting with ourselves. A small change made today will result in a big difference tomorrow!
