Anti-Bullying Week 2021

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2021 is: ‘One Kind Word

Every child should feel safe when they go to madrasah or school and know what to do if they are being bullied by anyone. Similarly, those that are bullying must also be given appropriate support and guidance to ensure that bullying is tackled at every level.

Anti-Bullying Week is an initiative organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, it’s focus is on making children understand what bullying is, the hurt it causes and how to report it. The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is ‘One Kind Word’.

As Islamic institutions it is our duty to ensure the children in our care know and understand the harms of bullying through an Islamic perspective, What the Qur’ān and Ahādith have to say about bullying and those being bullied.

Teachers can use this week to highlight the Ayāt and Ahādith which relate to bullying and oppression and also conduct lessons and assemblies to raise awareness about the importance in Islam about making a change starting with ourselves. A small change made today will result in a big difference tomorrow!

And a good word is charity

Sahih Muslim

Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “A [true] Muslim is he from whose tongue and hand other believers remain safe.”

Sahih al-Bukhari

Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love each other. Promote greeting amongst you (by saying As-salamu ‘alaikum to one another).”

Sahih Muslim

Never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers are doing. He is giving them respite up to a day when the eyes shall remain upraised (in fear).
Surah 'Ibrāhīm

14:42

Whoever believes in Allah and the last day should speak a good word or remain silent

Sahih al-Bukhari

He who cannot find anything to give then let him speak good words
