Anti Bullying Week 2017
O you who believe! no group of people should ridicule another group of people, it may be that the latter are better than the former.
Bullying is a sad reality that many children and vulnerable adults are having to deal with on a daily basis. Every child should feel safe and know what to do if they are being troubled by fellow pupils.
Anti Bullying Week is an initiative organised by the Anti Bullying Alliance, it’s focus is on making children understand what bullying is, the hurt it causes and how to report it.
As Islamic institutions it is our duty to ensure the children in our care know the harms of bullying through an Islamic perspective also.
Teachers can use this week to highlight those Ayat and Ahadith which relate to bullying and oppression.
Never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers are doing. He is giving them respite up to a day when the eyes shall remain upraised (in fear).
Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “Oppression will turn into darkness on the Day of Resurrection.”
Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! You will not enter Jannah until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. May I inform you of something, if you do, you love each other. Promote greeting amongst you (by saying As-salamu ‘alaikum to one another).”
Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “A [true] Muslim is he from whose tongue and hand other believers remain safe.”
Our Beloved Messenger ﷺ said: “Be afraid of the curse of an oppressed person as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah.”
